The Hinterkaifeck Murders, one of Germany's most infamous unsolved crimes, occurred in March 1922 on a remote Bavarian farmstead. Six members of the Gruber family, including two children and their maid, were brutally murdered with a mattock. Disturbingly, the killer(s) stayed in the family's home for several days, feeding livestock and eating meals. The family had reported strange occurrences before the murders, such as unexplained footprints and noises. Despite extensive investigations and numerous suspects over the years, the case remains unsolved, with various theories ranging from a deranged local to a family member being responsible for the killings.
