Gochin means ‘Bang and Sink’. This film was made in 1942 and is a genuine documentary of one of the war patrols of the I.J.N. submarine I-10 in the Indian Ocean. Everything on the tape was filmed as it actually happened, including the rescue of a crewman from a Norwegian freighter and also the periscope view of the sinking of an Allied steamer. On this patrol, I-10 sank four ships. There is a lot of stirring Japanese music all through this film. I-10 was an “A” Type boat with Flagship facilities and a floatplane. This is an extremely rare film and shows life aboard an I.J.N. submarine as it really was.
The master of this film came to us from the personal vault of an old Japanese film producer who gave it to a Sharkhunters Member specifically for us.
