On July 30th, 2024, several Bangor residents arrived to the Board of Supervisors meeting to provide public comment and express their disapproval of an industrial solar farm project proposed for the high fire risk location of 5864 La Porte Road. But, much to their dismay, the item had been removed from the agendas for a sixth time.

As you hear, Todd Kimmel, you exhaustively explain at the beginning of this video , any member wishing to speak on an item that’s not on the current agendas has to do so under public comment, and since they usher in their new Covid era public meeting policies, general public comment is divided into two segments, allowing for only five people at three minutes apiece, for a total of 15 minutes in the morning portion of the meeting. Everyone else has to wait until after 12 noon for the second offer opportunity to provide public comment. That means you will be there for hours if you were not amongst the first five to arrive and sign up with a public speaking card.

The woman presented in this video, was able to get a comment in during the morning. But at least half a dozen other people who had signed up for public comment were put off until the afternoon, by which time they had all left. But Shirley does a beautiful job representing her community and their legitimate concerns. Will the board of supervisors DO THEIR JOB and uphold the will of the people as the REPRESENTATIVES and public SERVANTS? Or will they fly in the face of their purviews and betray their constituents like they did to Wyandotte residents over the ATT 5G cell tower? It seems our “supervisors” loyalties are sold to the highest bidder, forsaking their sworn oaths to serve and protect the best interests of their districts.
