Mossberg International Silver Reserve 28ga O/U Shotgun review. This is the second review of a Mossberg International Silver Reserve over-under shotgun this year. The first was a 12 gauge model. This review focuses on the 28 gauge model. When it comes to what you can get for less than a couple thousand dollars when looking at over-under shotguns, it’s obvious that cost does matter in terms of quality. In fact, the rule is usually that it’s better to save your money rather than throw it away on a cheap gun. But critics appear to agree that the Mossberg International Silver Reserve O/U Shotgun may actually be an exception. This particular shotgun is one of the early Silver Reserve models (probably around 20 years old) with walnut stock and forend sporting engraved doves taking flight on its silver receiver. For the most part, Mossberg has been best known for its production of pump-action and auto-loading shotguns. But in the early 2000s Mossberg, in partnership with the Turkish gun maker Kayhan Art S.S., Mossberg began to offer a field-grade over/under shotgun for about $500, the International Silver Reserve. Overall, the Mossberg International Silver reserve O/U has earned a pretty good reputation as a respectable value priced entry-level over/under. Includes detailed demonstration of disassembly and reassembly.
