Three Black women: ‘Mocked with monkey chants, called slaves’ and then prosecuted for ‘self-defence’

In the last week rioters, right wing conspiracy theorists and Reform MPs have been pushing a claim that police are treating white people more harshly than people from ethnic minorities.

This has been angrily denied by police chiefs and the Prime Minister as absolute nonsense. And people from minorities have been pointing at the evidence that if anything, the criminal justice system has been unfair towards them.

Take the experience of three Black women who were accused of assaulting a white woman at a London underground station last year. They said they'd in fact been defending themselves after a violent racist attack. And eventually the case against them was suddenly dropped just as the trial was about to start.

They've spoken for the first time about the experience to us.
