RFK Jr.: Maui Still Needs Us

It’s been one year since the devastating wildfire, and the people and communities of Maui continue to suffer.

I visited Lahaina last January and saw the tragic reality up close: the wildfire’s cascading environmental impacts and toxic aftermath will likely last for years. The government’s mismanagement of the poisonous material cleanup wreaked havoc on Lahaina’s residents, farmland, groundwater, and the local reef. Hazardous debris and chemicals continue to plague the town.

It remains an egregious example of government negligence and, ultimately, corruption. The people of Maui deserve so much better.
