The super rich, a remote island, mysterious memory loss… what could possibly go wrong/be going on?

This first trailer for Blink Twice, from Zoë Kravitz with her feature debut – co-written with E.T. Feigenbaum – feels like one of those clearly unraveling narratives that is set to play on the nature of the reality in some form and the teaser here from Amazon MGM Studios and Warner Bros is worth checking out.

In the film, tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala and it seems like she feels a connection. After being invited to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island, things are initially great with wild nights and sun-soaked days, but after strange things begin to occur, Frida isn’t so sure about what is – and what isn’t – actually going on.

Firstly, I love that it’s Kravitz’s debut feature with such a fine cast – and it’s also great to see Tatum in this rather creepy setup, with a billionaire probably inspired by you know who. Ackie is always worth watching, and there’s a killer co-starring cast that includes Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat.

It hits cinemas on 21st August in the US, and 23rd August in the UK, and I wonder if a digital release will around a similar time – we shall see, watch the trailer now:

The trailer for Zoe Kravitz directorial debut thriller Blink Twice has hit the internet.

Written by Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum, the film stars (Channing Tatum), Naomi Ackie, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan and Geena Davis. Producers are Bruce Cohen, Tiffany Persons, Garret Levitz and Kravitz.

Tech billionaire Slater King (Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Ackie) at his fundraising gala, and sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.

The film is produced by Kravitz, Levitz, Tiffany Persons, and Bruce Cohen, with Stacy Perskie, and Jordan Harkins serving as executive producers. The movie was made in conjunction with Free Association, this is important, and Bold Choices.

Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Zoë Kravitz’s twisted directorial debut “Blink Twice.”

Originally titled “Pussy Island,” the movie follows Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) as they are charmed by tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) and lured to his private island for a weekend getaway. What starts as a steamy vacation soon devolves into a reality-bending nightmare that the women soon learn they must escape if they want to live.

“So do you think the human sacrifice is before or after dinner?” Jess asks Frida in jest, before things get truly scary.

Amazon MGM has been off to a strong start with theatrical releases in 2024, with its breakout hit “The Beekeeper” staring Jason Statham grossing just over $150 million worldwide. Upcoming releases from the studio include Zendaya’s sports romance drama “Challengers” and the Aubrey Plaza-led comedy “My Old Ass,” which was produced by Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment.

Last year saw two big releases from Amazon MGM. “Saltburn,” staring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, went viral with its stunning visuals and stomach-twisting scenes. Cord Jefferson’s “American Fiction,” about a author frustrated with Black stereotypes depicted by his colleagues, received both commercial and critical acclaim. The film would go on to be nominated at the Academy Awards for best picture, actor, supporting actor and original score. It won the prize for original screenplay.

“Blink Twice” is set to hit theaters Aug. 23. Watch the trailer below.
