OCSO's Warrants Team stopped 38-year-old Leland Meece at a gas station near I-240 and Pennsylvania Avenue on Tuesday.

The Sheriff's Office said Meece is wanted on several felony warrants, including domestic assault with strangulation and possession of stolen property.

During the stop, Meece took off down Penn, reaching speeds around 60 MPH.

Deputies decided to terminate the pursuit less than a minute later when Meece blew through an intersection at high speeds.

Moments later, Meece crashed into several vehicles, injuring three people.

The OCSO said Meece then ran from the scene but was tackled by deputies and taken into custody.

A passenger in Meece's vehicle,29-year-old Callie Dotte, also had outstanding warrants for drug possession.

Everyone who was injured was treated and released from local hospitals, according to the OCSO.

"I am so proud of these deputies", Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said, "Pursuits are always dangerous, and these deputies put the safety of the community first, risking their own lives to put a dangerous criminal behind bars."
