Max Blumenthal had reported for the Grey Zone on October 27th, 2023, that the Hannibal Directive was utilized by the Israeli military on October 7th, against its citizens using tanks and Apache helicopters. The article received significant pushback from major media outlets. Notable newspapers like Israel's Haaretz and the Washington Post repeatedly smeared Max as a liar. After repeatedly calling Blumenthal a liar for 9 months Haaretz is now proclaiming that indeed the Hannibal directive was utilized by Israel to kill their citizens in order to prevent hostages from being taken.
