Portman was an exceptional student, balancing her burgeoning acting career with her education. She attended the Solomon Schechter Day School of Nassau County and then Syosset High School. Despite the demands of acting, she graduated with honors in 1999. Portman continued her education at Harvard University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2003. She later took graduate courses at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Portman's acting career began at the age of 11 when she was discovered by a Revlon agent in a pizza parlor. She made her film debut in 1994's "Léon: The Professional," where she played the role of Mathilda, an orphan taken in by a hitman. Her performance garnered critical acclaim and set the stage for a successful career in Hollywood.
