The Hooded Crow, or Corvus cornix, is a clever bird you'll spot around the UK. These crows have a unique look - they're grey and black, like they're wearing a dark coat over a lighter body. You'll often see them in parks, fields, and even cities.
These birds are proper smart. They use tools to get food and can solve tricky problems. They're about the size of a wood pigeon and live for about 4 years in the wild.
Hooded Crows eat all sorts of things - insects, small animals, eggs, and even rubbish from bins. They're not fussy! They make their nests high up in trees using sticks and grass.
These crows are social birds. They live in pairs or small family groups, but you might see big flocks of them too. They make a 'caw' sound, but it's a bit harsher than other crows.
People used to think these birds were bad luck, but nowadays we know they're just clever animals trying to get by.
