The Day Before Tomorrow
We couldn't squeeze this entire segment into today's episode. Consider this a bonus look at the global situation. Let's see if we can come up with our traditional 7 items. (We cover at least three in this segment.) Guaranteed, the world has changed radically already.
1. Kamala Harris has been un-democratically chosen as the Democratic Candidate for President of the US. She won no primaries. So what's the point of even having a convention? Do the party bosses have such a strangle hold on the Dem Gang that they can get away with this? No one else in the party thinks they can do a better job?
2. Sheikh Hasina, (former) Prime Minister of Bangladesh has been ousted from her position and run out of the country her father helped to create. But I haven't heard anyone call it a "coup." This coup is credited to a "student uprising" over a quota system that sets aside government jobs for descendants of freedom fighters. It looks like a Color Revolution to me.
3. Israel, Palestine, Gaza, Iran, US, Russia, Turkey, China, BRICS... This is a huge geopolitical jigsaw puzzle, but the bottom line seems to be that the US Government will defend Israel to the last American soldier. I never know how much of the "intel" I can trust. Many analysts are predicting the end of Israel. There's historical precedence for this during WW2, and WW1 in Germany.
4. Civil War-esque riots in the UK. In case you haven't heard, a natural born Brit of Rwandan parents allegedly stabbed children at a dance class. "Social media" spread the rumor that the assailant was Muslim, and the "Whites" attacked Mosques in the area. Muslims fought back. Sounds like hate bait to me.
5. Afrique Francais is rejecting post-colonial quasi-rule from France. Leading the way is Ibrahim Traore, the (military) leader of Burkina Faso. The government, derisively called a "junta" have expelled French military from the country and have forged an alliance with two other Sahel nations, (I forget which one's off hand.)
6. Nicolas Maduro is, (as far as I guess) still in power in Venezuela. Do I know the status of the elections? No. Do I suspect that the US/West has something to do with the turmoil in the country. Of course. The same fingerprints and rhetoric from historical US meddling in foreign politics is clear to see. "Socialist dictator," "people suffering," continue to "trend" in the language. US congress-critters are of course aligning against the Maduro government. US sanctions damage Venezuela. Word is they might join BRICS, they can sell their oil to China & India.
7. Olympic boxing. I don't know if the XY-female boxer controversy is a way to generate hype in a lackluster and troubled Olympics, or some kind of future "awareness" program to bring attention to "gonadal dysgenesis" (Swyer Syndrome, covered in a previous episode). In typical fashion, however, it brings out the haters & the cyber bullies, (who might be part of a publicity campaign, we never know). Imane Kelif is trending despite all the hate being spewed her way. "Fans" still want to see people beat each others brains out.
*Bonus for readers: We expect Joe Biden to resign the presidency tomorrow, the 50th Anniversary of Richard M Nixon's resignation.
