The Honey Buzzard: Close Up HD Footage (Pernis apivorus)

The Honey Buzzard, known scientifically as Pernis apivorus, is a unique bird of prey. Despite its name, it doesn't actually eat honey. Instead, it loves munching on wasp and bee grubs. These clever birds have special feathers on their faces that protect them from stings when they're digging into insect nests.
In summer, you'll find Honey Buzzards in Europe and parts of Asia. When winter comes, they make a long journey to Africa. They're quite big, about the same size as a Common Buzzard, with long wings and tails that are perfect for gliding through the air.
