On Monday, August 5, 2024, on the 205th Episode of New Paradigms with Sargis Sangari, I speak with COL (Ret) John Mills, Former Director of Cyber DOD, Former Director of International Affairs SecDef, and Senior Fellow at Center for Security Policy about U.S. "Backyard Wars" and Strategic Leverage.

Our discussion begins by looking at the Market sell-off in the United States. This morning, a stock market crash in Japan sent the U.S. stock market down hard.

Japan's NIKKEI 225 Index fell over 12% in Monday trading, wiping out its gains for the year. The Index slumped more than 10 percent since Friday, the worst losses since 1987. With the U.S. Magnificent 7 group losing nearly 900 billion USD in value and the CRYPTO market CAP dropping over 500 billion USD since Friday, it is one of the worst possible times for U.S. leverage, given the execution of current wars and prevention of future wars.

Our discussion continues with a look at the 2014 Yazidi & Assyrian Genocide perpetrated against minority communities by ISIS as they established the Islamic State in August 2014. At its height, the Islamic State - also known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh - held about a third of Syria and 40 percent of Iraq. By December 2017, it had lost 95 percent of its territory, including its two most prominent properties, Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city, and the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, its nominal capital.

We also discuss the changing map of the Near East as Iran and Israel's war continues to expand its effects globally, how those tentacles affect the Venezuelan elections and cartel operations in South America, and the possibility of a larger war in Asia as the U.S. prepares for a Chinese invasion of Taiwan and possible internal attacks by Iran and possible others in another 911 possible attacks.
