Oklahoma schools in revolt over Bible mandate

Educators in Oklahoma are resisting a state order to incorporate the Bible into lesson plans, creating a potential conflict as the school year approaches.

State Superintendent Ryan Walters issued guidelines mandating biblical curricula for grades 5-12, with a physical copy of the Bible and the Ten Commandments in every classroom.

Schools are advised by legal counsel not to follow the guidance, which they say violates state law.

Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Rob Miller indicated that non-compliance could lead to lawsuits, The Hill has reported.
