The lesson on August 4, 2024 was part 4 of “The Book of Matthew” study. This lesson finishes chapter two but looks at several important topics that this chapter provides us. Wayne does review what we learned in the last lesson of how God spoke to man through the prophets and how prophecies had a future fulfillment and a local fulfillment. We then get into looking at the name of Jesus and how it was reflecting the trinity of God. We looked at four passages in the Old Testament that spoke of the trinity in Deuteronomy 6:4; 32:6; Isaiah 9:6; 2 Samuel 23:2-3. In the New Testament we have very specific verses that speaks of the Trinity if you have a King James bible. New bibles have dropped some of these verses. 1 John 5:7,8 KJV says “7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.” That makes it very clear. We looked at several passages that speak to the class of sorcerer that existed that may be like the wise men who visited the young child Jesus. They were ones who studied the stars and learned of the Messiah from the gospel in the stars. Wayne wrapped up looking at how Jesus was called a Nazarene and how everyone rejected those who came from Nazareth as it was foretold in prophecy from Psalms 22:6 KJV and Isaiah 53:2 KJV.

The Scripture reading was from 1 John 5:7-8 KJV “7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
