At least 91 people, including 13 police officers, have been killed, and dozens injured in Bangladesh as police clashed with tens of thousands of protesters demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation.

The violence erupted in Dhaka and other regions, with police using tear gas and stun grenades.

An attack on police occurred at Enayetpur police station, with unknown assailants.

Protests, which began in July over a government job quota system, have escalated.

Hasina labeled the violent protesters as criminals, not students, urging a strong response, Al-Jazeera has reported.
