We acknowledge the importance of Vs 9:9 If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Roman Catholics do confession, unfortunately they confess to another sinner, letting that other sinner give them some sort of assurance that all will be ok if, IF they do this or that, say this or that rather than going directly to Yeshua. The second precept (or law) of the Catholic Church states: You shall confess your sins at least once a year.
Every act of forgiveness is written in the blood of Yeshua. All the way back to the garden, the original couple sinned tried to atone for it themselves and the LORD had to come in ad offer salvation through blood. That blood was a foreshadowing of the blood of Yeshua that was promised to come. And it HE did.
PSA 51:1-4, Have mercy upon me, O GOD, According to YOUR lovingkindness; According to the multitude of YOUR tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.
Cleanse me, Hide YOUR face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of YOUR salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O GOD, YOU who are GOD my Savior, YOU do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
