OVIDIU KATONA - Sep 25, 2023 - Clinton Fall Festival starts Friday, runs through Sunday
As I sit here looking out my window at the gray skies this morning I am so thankful God blessed us with an amazingly beautiful 3:days of weather for our 49th annual Clinton Fall Festival. It was a wonderful festival and so many people stopped me to tell me it was one of the best ever. There are so many people to thank for working diligently to make this Clinton Fall Festival the great festival that it was. It truly takes a village to put on a festival of this magnitude. Many of the following volunteers and others put in countless hours to make it successful. First I want to thank Kevin Cornish and the entire Village staff. Anything I asked of them was done promptly and with a smile on their faces. Special thanks to Police Chief Tony Cuevas and all of our police officers who worked our festival. They put in long hours to keep everyone safe. Thanks to Dennis Keezer and the staff of the Fire Department for providing emergency services. Thank you to Kevin Beazley and the Clinton Community Schools for the support given. Thanks goes to Marla Erickson and the Clinton Soccer Team and parents for the outstanding job they did keeping the festival area clean and doing trash pick up every day. The Cross Country Team and coach Kurt were very helpful with assisting the vendors with their booth set up. Thanks to the NHS students who helped with the pumpkin painting event all weekend. Thanks to all the community members who helped with setting up the arts and craft, merchant, non profit and food vendors. Rhere were many who helped. Thank you to Ken Gresiak for allowing us use of his parking lot for handicapped parking area and to Eden Foods for allowing use of their parking lot for the Car Show. We so appreciate all the donors of items to the Silent Auction. Proceeds from the auction goes to our Scholarship Fund. Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors. Without your financial help, this festival would not be able to have as much in our festival as we have. Thank you to the Clinton Inn for allowing us use of their front lobby for festival headquarters and announcing. Thanks to the many churches that participated in the festival and to the Clinton Township Library for the wonderful book sale and also Kids and Adult Craft making. Special thanks to the Smith Kimball Community Center for providing a wonderful space for our Lost Arts Display and to the Clinton Historical Society for the school house display. As I thank people please know if I miss anyone, know that you are very appreciated for your help. I do want to thank Tonya Couture, Danny Smith, Nate Smith, Andrea McDermott, Ryan McDermott, Natalie McDermott, George Service, and Mark Smith who helped me by devoting two Saturdays of time and super hard work, cleaning and organizing our storage building prior to festival. It has never looked so good. That was a big job. Woe to the person or persons who mess it up . I would like to also thank all the people who serve on our Board of Directors and Committees. We start planning each year in early February and work up to, and through and beyond the festival. All did a fantastic job. Special thanks goes to Tonya Couture, Festival Vice President. She handled the Security planning, liaison with POCO, took care of getting signs and banners up, radio acquisition and general assistance. Thanks to Jarrod Stober our Treasurer who handles the festival finances, to Emily Stober, Festival Secretary and chairperson of the Merchant Area and Downtown, she did a great job bring in numerous Merchants, to Ty Greenleaf Smith, Board Member and Chairperson of Food area. Ty also was able to bring in several new food vendors to the delight of festival goers. Mark Smith assisted with Food and also general assistance around the festival, also Abby Smith for general assistance. Thanks to Jennifer Herington, Jennifer Milligan, Board Member and Cristy Hess, Board Member as these ladies make up the Arts and Craft Committee. They did a wonderful job finding some new vendors to include in this year’s festival and brought in many more vendors than last year. Merchant, Arts and Crafts and Food Areas were top notch. Jennifer Milligan also chaired the Headquarter and Festival Announcements. Thanks for doing so. Thanks you to Jeff Herington, Board Member and liaison for the assistance with the Car Show and general assistance around the festival. Also thanks to Jeff Randall who helped move things as needed around the festival. And thanks to Dedra Preston and the Wrestling Club for handling the Car Show. Thank you to Board Member John Valenti and his fellow musician Joyce Lancaster for the wonderful entertainment they arranged and also to John for getting the carnival at Tate Park. Thanks to Cristy Hess for the outstanding Silent Auction. It was the best ever. Thank you to Joe Kaufman, Board Member with all his help. Marilyn Nagal and Sharon Olexa once again did an awesome job finding the Lost Arts displays and vendors that were on the Smith Kimball Community Center Lawn. Awesome job, Marilyn and Sharon. A big thank you to Sherry Service for being Chairperson of the Golf Cart Shuttles. She and her team drove 12 plus hours each day and shuttled thousands of attendees from their cars and back. The Golf Cart Shuttle Team includes Sherry, Ruth Calhoun, Ashley Calhoun, Amanda Kirkendall, Scott Kirkendall, Earl Cook, Danny Smith, Nate Smith, and Andrea McDermott. I also shuttled visitors anytime I was free from other duties. People are always so grateful for the rides, because some park many blocks away. The golf cart shuttle team also assist vendors getting their products from their vehicles and back. Thanks to all the golf cart drivers. Wasn’t that parade great. Annabelle Robinson chairs that event with assistance from her family. Thanks Annabelle and Robinson family. Thanks to Jan Wegner, Gail Maki and Rich Maki for helping me distribute 10,000 festival brochures all over Lenawee, Washtenaw and Jackson County. I want to thank Steve Stockford for chairing the set up and tear down of vendors. It was his first year doing that and he did a nice job getting everyone to their correct locations. J D Lancaster helps us obtain our insurance and we thank him for his work on that. Special thanks to Geoff Oliver and his family for supplying and setting up the beautiful fall decorations all around the festival. The town looked beautiful. Thanks to George Service for maintenance and general assistance around the festival. Thanks you to Mark Carpenter, Village Electrical Supervisor and his awesome staff and to Matt Dorr, Supervisor of the Village DPW and his wonderful staff. We couldn’t put on the festival without these guys. Leslie and Cathy from the Village Office handled the Welcome to the Clinton Fall Festival Booth and Beth, Leah and Kevin at the Village office also gave us a lot of assistance. Thank you. Thank you to all community members who worked shifts at the Welcome Center. You are so appreciated. Lastly for myself, I handled the day to day operations of the festival, Sponsorships, Festival Scholarships for high school seniors, Non Profits, Kids Events, Golf Cart and Bus acquisition, Liaison with the village and the school, advertising and marketing, As you can see there is lots of areas to be covered to put on our great festival.
