Nelly Barton - I'm Me, I'm Free

In June 1972, after being released from county jail on bail for indecent exposure for the fifth time that summer, Nelly wrote a song that became an anthem for everybody holding freedom in high esteem. The lyrics reveal a volunerable woman that is tired of being held down by patriarchy. Three of the short visits to jail happened after organizing breast feeding education for young women in the local parks. Society has come a long way since Nelly wrote I'm Me, I'm Free.
