Theme: The idolatry of Ishtar is but one of many examples where mere human beings attempt to put God on trial. The essence of all sin is a rejection of the Word of God, of asking Satan’s question, “Has God indeed said?”

“God on Trial”
32nd In our series the Prophet Micah

I. The Trial In Abstentia  - Genesis 3:1
* A. Satan acts as the prosecutor
* 1. Questioning the Word of God is always his tactic 
* a. Satan triggers doubts in the mind of his victims
* b. His question implies that God is withholding from Eve the truly good things in life 
* 2. Satan blatantly lies - Genesis 3:4-5
* B. Eve functions as the Judge and Jury - Genesis 3:2-3 

II. God Invites Judah to Put Him on Trial - Micah 6:1-3 
* A. The Judge will be the mountains - Deuteronomy 30:19
* 1. The idea being they are strong, unchanging, indifferent to the whims of the times
* a. So is the Biblical standard of Justice
* b. True justice does not exist apart from God’s Law
* 2. God has charges against His people but first He wants to hear their charges against Him
* a. Sin is a refusal to accept what God said is the Truth as established in His Holy Word, sin is putting God on trial
* b. The Sins of Judah were the cause of all the trouble they had and would experience
* B. The historical record of God’s dealings with His people  - Micah 6:4-5
* 1. Their delivered them from bondage in Egypt by miracles
* a. Moses lawgiver, Aaron priest, Miriam - worship 
* b. We too have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness, sin, death and hell
* 2. They were delivered from Balak’s attempt to curse them
* 3. They were preserved from judgment at Shittim & were preserved in crossing the Jordan River - Numbers 25:1-8
