Harris clinches Democratic nomination, DNC announces

Kamala Harris has secured the Democratic presidential nomination after winning the necessary delegate votes, as confirmed by Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison on Friday.

Harris, who will officially accept the nomination next week, becomes the party’s first Black female presidential nominee.

Her nomination follows President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race last month and his endorsement of Harris.

The switch to Harris has energized the party, with her campaign raising $310 million in July, Politico has reported.
