Russian Meat Pies (Pirozhki)
Ingredients:
For the dough:

Flour: 300 gr
Sugar: 1 tbsp
Salt: 1 tsp
Water: 550 ml
Flour: 60 gr (for thickening)
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Vegetable oil: 30 ml
For the filling:

Vegetable oil (for frying)
Onion: 2 pieces, finely chopped
Minced meat: 300 gr
Salt and spices to taste (e.g., pepper, garlic powder, paprika)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:

In a large bowl, combine 300 gr of flour, sugar, and 1 tsp of salt.
Gradually add the water while mixing to form a smooth batter.
Mix 60 gr of flour with baking powder and add to the batter. Stir until smooth.
Add 30 ml of vegetable oil and mix well. Set aside to rest.
Prepare the Filling:

Heat a little vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become soft and translucent.
Add the minced meat to the pan, breaking it up as it cooks.
Season with salt and spices to taste. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Assemble the Pirozhki:

Take a small portion of dough and flatten it in your hand or on a floured surface to form a circle.
Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of the dough circle.
Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal, forming a crescent or round shape.
Fry the Pirozhki:

Heat enough vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to cover the pirozhki.
Fry the pirozhki in batches until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve:

Serve the pirozhki warm, as a snack or appetizer. They can be enjoyed on their own or with a dipping sauce of your choice.
Enjoy your homemade Russian meat pies!
