Before their lives were tragically cut short, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and my father collaborated on “The Poor People’s Campaign,” an effort to combat hunger and poverty in America, even as the Vietnam War dominated the national agenda.

Today, their vision remains unfinished. But I intend to take back up the fight. My administration will implement a revitalized domestic Marshall Plan, inspired by Dr. King, that focuses on rebuilding and investing in the most impoverished urban and rural areas of our nation.

Tens of millions of Americans have been overlooked for far too long. But I promise you, when I’m President, they won’t be forgotten.
