A bag valve mask (BVM) is a medical device used to provide positive pressure ventilation to patients who are not breathing or not breathing adequately. It consists of a self-inflating bag, a one-way valve, and a mask that covers the patient's nose and mouth. The device is commonly used in emergency situations, such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, or during anesthesia to maintain a patient's airway and ensure they receive enough oxygen.
