Over two decades and many secret prisons later, three 9/11 suspects agree to US plea deal | DW News

Three men accused of plotting the September 11 terrorist attacks have agreed to plead guilty to avoid a possible death sentence. Among them is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who the US accuses of being one of the main planners of 9/11. The three men are held at a US military prison in Guantanamo Bay. They were charged in 2008 but their trials were delayed after interrogation techniques that critics say amounted to torture were exposed. Almost three thousand people were killed on 9/11, the deadliest-ever attack on American soil.

DW speaks to Johannes Thimm, US analyst at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs.
