Boat Skeg Repair

This is Ricky from HRI Services llc. The owner of this boat hit something with the skeg of his lower unit and broke the skeg on his outboard. I find out that it had been previously repaired as I start to work on it. Not sure what kind of mess I will find from the previous repair. I clean off the paint from the cast aluminum, V out the crack area to be repaired so I can get good penetration, straighten the skeg, tack the skeg in place, weld it out, clean it up, and paint it. I use ¼” x 2” steel angle to pull the skeg back in place and keep it straight while welding.
