Mohammad Deif, the man who Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called the "Osama bin Laden of Gaza" was killed in an airstrike in Khan Younis, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed.

Gallant posted on his X (Twitter) page that this was “a significant milestone in the process of dismantling Hamas as a military and governing authority in Gaza, and in the achievement of the goals of this war.”
He added, “the operation was conducted precisely and professionally by the IDF and ISA. This operation reflects the fact that Hamas is disintegrating, and that Hamas terrorists may either surrender or they will be eliminated.”
Deif was considered the second-in-command within Hamas in Gaza and the IDF said he orchestrated the Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people and left 251 people as hostages.

Now, 300 days later, more than 100 of those hostages remain in captivity.
