The Wall Street Journal praised the 'strength' of its correspondent Evan Gershkovich, 32, whose release comes along with that of 16 other Western prisoners held in Russia who were let go as part of a historic deal. A total of 24 prisoners from seven different countries were freed - making it the largest and most complex East-West inmate exchange since the Cold War era. The exchange took place in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Thursday morning. The country has previously mediated prisoner exchanges between Russia and the West.
