** The Story Behind Psalm 26: A Journey of Integrity

**Welcome to our deep dive into Psalm 26, a heartfelt prayer of integrity, trust, and devotion written by King David. In this video, we explore the background and meaning of this powerful psalm, offering insights into David's life and his unwavering faith in God.

### Why David Wrote Psalm 26

King David, known for his close relationship with God, penned Psalm 26 during a time when he faced accusations and slander from his enemies. Surrounded by deceitful men and hypocrites, David turned to God for vindication and guidance. He sought refuge in his integrity and trust in God’s mercy, believing that living a righteous life would bring him closer to the Lord.

In this psalm, David declares his innocence and asks God to examine his heart and mind. He distances himself from evildoers and expresses his love for the house of God, where he feels the divine presence. This psalm serves as a reminder of the importance of walking in integrity and remaining steadfast in faith, even in the face of adversity.

### Psalm 26 (World English Bible)

1. Judge me, Yahweh, for I have walked in my integrity.
I have trusted also in Yahweh without wavering.

2. Examine me, Yahweh, and prove me.
Try my heart and my mind.

3. For your loving kindness is before my eyes.
I have walked in your truth.

4. I have not sat with deceitful men,
neither will I go in with hypocrites.

5. I hate the assembly of evildoers,
and will not sit with the wicked.

6. I will wash my hands in innocence,
so I will go about your altar, Yahweh;

7. that I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard
and tell of all your wondrous deeds.

8. Yahweh, I love the habitation of your house,
the place where your glory dwells.

9. Don’t gather my soul with sinners,
nor my life with bloodthirsty men;

10. in whose hands is wickedness,
their right hand is full of bribes.

11. But as for me, I will walk in my integrity.
Redeem me, and be merciful to me.

12. My foot stands in an even place.
In the congregations, I will bless Yahweh.

### Blues Song Inspired by Psalm 26: **"Walkin' in Integrity Blues"**

*(Verse 1)*
I've been walkin' down this long road,
In my integrity, tryin' to do right.
I put my trust in you, Lord,
Through the darkest of nights.

*(Chorus)*
Judge me, oh, Judge me,
But I've been walkin' true.
Lord, I need your mercy,
And I keep my eyes on you.

*(Verse 2)*
I've seen deceitful people,
And I won't walk their way.
I'm steering clear of the wicked,
No matter what they say.

*(Chorus)*
Judge me, oh, Judge me,
But I've been walkin' true.
Lord, I need your mercy,
And I keep my eyes on you.

*(Bridge)*
I love your house, Lord,
Where your glory shines bright.
I stand in your presence,
It feels so right.

*(Verse 3)*
Don't let me fall with sinners,
Keep me far from their schemes.
I walk this path of honesty,
Holdin' on to my dreams.

*(Chorus)*
Judge me, oh, Judge me,
But I've been walkin' true.
Lord, I need your mercy,
And I keep my eyes on you.

*(Outro)*
I'll keep on walkin', Lord,
With integrity in my soul.
Redeem me with your mercy,
And make my spirit whole.
