Jeremiah 40-43 "Resistance to God" 7/24/24

After the siege, the Babylonian soldiers entered the city and gathered up the people of Judah.
After the siege that lasted some 30 months, many of those left at the end were starving.
The city was in ruins, the temple was burned and many of their fellow Jews were dead or near dead.
For forty years Jeremiah warned them this would happen…but they did not listen.
And it wasn’t that they were rejecting the word of Jeremiah; they were rejecting the word of God, who spoke through Jeremiah.
Many of the captives would have welcomed captivity as opposed to starvation.
Along with the remnant left in the city, the Babylonians cleared out the prison, and Jeremiah was among the Judean prisoners.
It is at Ramah, about six miles from Judah, which may have been used as a staging point.
