Letter #3 gives us insight about the pros and cons about writing for papers or books and the kinds of genres to write from that will please the intended audience. A point is made how with written works, you cannot please everyone, for some things that may bring others joy and happiness, may bring others disgusted or angry even.

Letter #4 gives a detailed dream of our “Silence Dogood” that she’d had one day after a discussion with a colleague. It goes into detail about the Temple of Learning and how she saw those that came and went through, and came and were turned away, at the gate where you were accepted or denied into the learning temple. She managed to get through the gate and sees many things within the Temple that go on. Between those meant for great academic achievement that apply their knowledge learned in the Temple, and those whose parent’s purses were big enough to get them through the gates, but not wise enough to apply the knowledge learned.

Letter #5 gives us our first look into the first ever “public comment section feud” ever seen in America in the first newspaper in America between Silence Dogood and her adversary Mr. Ephraim Censorious. Here we also seem to see the first publicly written “Battle of the Sexes” between Ms.Dogood and Mr. Censorious. Silence Dogood is challenged by Mr.Censorious about how prideful women are not tolerant and that if she wishes to write about things outside of her home, she should first start within it. Which made Ms. Dogood upset about how the women's education is barred while the men only had right to education at that time in 1722 and how men complain that women are ignorant. She also makes a point that it was man's laws that prohibited women from seeking further education and wisdom like the male counterpart.
