“I, Paul,” is one of those statements we tend to read past.
But this introduction speaks volumes about Paul, displaying humility and the reason God mightily used him.
Paul wasn’t always his name. He began his journey as Saul.
Saul, or Shaul in Hebrew, means desired.”
He was named after King Saul, who the Bible tells us was chosen by the people because he was good-looking and taller than everyone else.
The name fits King Saul as others desired to be like him.
Our Saul lived up to his name as well.
He was a feared, confident, and powerful man, traits that others desired to have…even to this day.
When Saul walked into a room, he commanded respect, and everyone knew he was in charge.
But all that changed on the road to Damascus.
