The Richardson family was murdered in Medicine Hat, Alberta, in 2006 by their own young family member. The parents, Marc and Debra Richardson, were lying dead in their house with their 8-year-old son Tyler. Their 12-year-old daughter Jasmine and her 23-year-old boyfriend Jeremy Steinke were arrested, which was a shocking scenario. Jasmine plotted the murders as revenge for her parents' not liking Steinke and forbidding her to meet him. Both were convicted, and Jasmine got a ten-year sentence, while Steinke received a life sentence. Jasmine got out on parole, in 2016 after reaching one of the milestones towards her recovery.
