Victims of burglary in the ACT may not get a visit from police, with officers focusing their attention on more serious crimes.

The ACT's Chief Police Officer says a new online reporting system for certain crimes will be introduced over the next year.

Neil Gaughan says this will be a more efficient way to deal with property crime.
