Typhoon Gaemi battered towns in China’s Fujian province on Friday with heavy rains and strong winds. This storm, the most powerful to hit China this year, has now moved into the densely populated interior of the country.

So far, nearly 630,000 people in Fujian have been affected by the storm, with over 300,000 of them needing to be relocated, according to Xinhua news agency. Earlier this week, Typhoon Gaemi caused several fatalities in Taiwan and intensified seasonal rains in the Philippines.
