How Titanic was built

This BTS of Titanic is really Insane 🚢 😵

To create a realistic depiction of the Titanic for the 1997 film Titanic, director James Cameron used a combination of practical sets and computer-generated imagery (CGI):

Replica ship: The centerpiece of the set was a 775-foot-long replica of the ship built in a massive water tank at Baja Studios in Mexico. The set was nearly full-scale, but excluded parts of the bow and middle section. It took over a million gallons of water to fill the tank, and the set was divided into sections that could be tilted and flooded to simulate the ship sinking.

The set was so large that the crew had to implement a zoning system to avoid getting lost. The sinking sequence took four months to film, with the cast and crew working up to 18 hours a day, six days a week.

Other sets and models: The production also used scale models and other elaborate sets, including a giant teeter-totter that could be raised up to 90 degrees.
