Robert Morris Sons Resigns at Gateway Church & Jimmy Evans Speaks Out. This video is a Robert Morris Scandal Update. James Morris, who was slated to take over leadership of Dallas-area Gateway Church, has resigned in the wake of the sexual abuse scandal involving his father, Robert Morris. In a statement released to media, Gateway said its elders met earlier this week with Associate Senior Pastor James Morris and his wife, Gateway Executive Pastor Bridgette Morris. At that meeting, “they collectively made the decision” that the couple would step down. Gateway said pastor and best-selling author Max Lucado has agreed to serve as an interim teacher at the church. It added that Swedish pastor Joakim Lundqvist has been added to Gateway’s staff. Jimmy Evans from XO marriage and the Tipping point speaks out on Gateway Church for the first time. Jimmy Evans states: “Prior to the launch of Gateway, Robert Morris shared with me that he ‘had an affair with a woman in [his] early 20s.’ He represented that he stepped out of ministry and was fully restored. I was unaware of anything like the allegations shared last week until I read Ms. Clemishire’s story,” Evans said. “In 2020, I resigned from Gateway Church. At that time, I formally severed all ties with Gateway after expressing my deep concern over the dishonest and toxic leadership environment created by Robert Morris and the Gateway leadership.
