Capcom Goes WOKE? Race Swapping Character to Please ESG/DEI Masters?

Capcom is being accused of going woke and race swapping characters that they don't have the license to. In the official trailer for Terry Bogard from SNK's Fatal Fury series, there are people in the background dressed like characters in other SNK games. Blue Mary and Joe Higashi are spotted in the background, at least their iconic attire, but being sported by people that don't look like Mary and Joe. There is an easier way to explain this than simply screaming WOKE, but cooler heads can prevail and we can wait and see.

Internal memos and corporate statements of intent to increase diversity quotas are always troubling. Setting out to hire more X for the purpose of upping the number of X's you employ is a stupid strategy. Capcom has said that they want to do this with female leadership as well as non-Japanese leaders in the future, but through means of meritocracy.

So far, there aren't obvious signs Capcom has gone woke, but there are red flags. Stay diligent, but don't be the boy who cried wolf and sound the alarms too early.
