Son of 'El Chapo' and Sinaloa Cartel Co-Founder 'El Mayo' Arrested in Texas 🔥🔥🔥
In a surprising turn of events, the son of notorious drug lord 'El Chapo' and Sinaloa Cartel co-founder 'El Mayo' were arrested in Texas. Authorities believe that one of the men might have deceived the other into boarding a plane to the U.S., leading to their capture in El Paso. Joaquín Guzmán López, son of 'El Chapo,' and Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada García, a co-founder of the cartel, are now facing multiple charges related to their involvement in the cartel's fentanyl and cocaine operations.
Guzmán López was reportedly flown to Chicago, while Zambada remains in El Paso, awaiting a federal court appearance. There is speculation that Guzmán may have decided to surrender, hoping for leniency by bringing Zambada with him.
The arrests resulted from a joint operation by Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI. Attorney General Merrick Garland emphasized the Justice Department's commitment to holding all cartel leaders accountable for their roles in the deadly fentanyl crisis.
The Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels are central to the synthetic drug problem in the U.S., with the DEA identifying the Sinaloa Cartel as a major producer of fentanyl since 2012. The 'Chapitos,' 'El Chapo’s' sons, are accused of prioritizing fentanyl production for the cartel.
Zambada, known as "El Mayo," has been a key figure in the cartel for three decades, despite internal conflicts with the 'Chapitos.' His arrest marks a significant victory in the DEA’s efforts to combat drug trafficking.
DEA Administrator Anne Milgram highlighted the impact of Zambada's arrest on the cartel responsible for most of the fentanyl and methamphetamine entering the U.S. Despite public claims by cartels to stop fentanyl trafficking, the DEA reports that fentanyl availability remains unchanged.
With synthetic opioids, including fentanyl, causing an estimated 74,702 overdose deaths in the U.S. last year, the fight against these powerful cartels remains a top priority for law enforcement
