“The Path of Hope"

Today we gather to explore a profound journey outlined in the scriptures—a journey on the path of hope. Anchored in the powerful words of Romans 5:1-5, we discover how this path begins with the full assurance of our righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ. Let's delve into these words from the New King James Version:

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."

**Full Assurance in Christ:**

The path of hope begins with a steadfast belief in our justification through faith. We are right with God not because of our deeds but through faith in Jesus Christ. As Ephesians 2:8-9 declares, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." This assurance is our foundation.

**Righteous in Tribulation:**

In the midst of trials and tribulations, God sees us as righteous. James 1:2-4 encourages us: "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." Our trials are not signs of God's displeasure but opportunities for spiritual growth.

**Certainty in Our Righteousness:**

It's crucial to be unwavering in our conviction that we are right with God. 1 John 1:9 assures us: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Our certainty in His forgiveness and righteousness fortifies us against doubts.

**No Fear in Love:**

As the church of Jesus Christ, we must embrace that God is not angry with us. Romans 8:1 says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Even when we are bruised and wounded, His love remains steadfast.

**Rejecting Regrets and Anxiety:**

Living with regrets and fear undermines our journey on the path of hope. Philippians 4:6-7 instructs us, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." We are called to a life free from the bondage of anxiety and regret.
