To Participate Or Not: That is the Question Regarding a Republic Style Government

Should we vote, or should we volunteer for jury duty? Is our republic salvageable? Or is it ruined by institutionalism? Recently I had a chance to be a foreman on a Grand Jury, and it gave me some perspective on the nature of our government and who is really supposed to run it.
