Jan. 8, 1983 - In their first playoff appearance in 12 years, the Lions lost three key fumbles and suffered two interceptions in losing to the eventual Super Bowl XVII Champions, 31-7. Billy Sims was held to just 19 yards, while Redskin John Riggins became the first opponent ball carrier of the year to gain over 100 yards against the Lions defense. Washington's Alvin Garrett caught three TD passes to spearhead the victory. Detroit's Leonard Thompson led all receivers with seven catches for 150 yards.
