Episode 2357: Poured out for many - Nightly Episode
“O my God, at the end of this day I thank You most heartily for all the graces I have received from You. I am sorry that I have not made better use of them. I am sorry for all the sins I have committed against You. Forgive me, O my God, and graciously protect me this night. Blessed Virgin Mary, my dear heavenly mother, take me under your protection. St. Joseph, my dear Guardian Angel, and all you saints in heaven, pray for me. Sweet Jesus, have pity on all poor sinners, and save them from hell. Have mercy on the suffering souls in purgatory. Amen”
In Tonight’s episode, we will explore the significance of Christ's blood as the new covenant, as highlighted in Matthew 26:28, and the unique role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the divine plan of salvation, as explained by St. Louis De Montfort. Join us as we uncover the deep connections between the Eucharist, Mary's role, and our own journey of faith.
The Blood of the Covenant
In Matthew 26:28, Jesus says:
"For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
These words, spoken during the Last Supper, are foundational to our understanding of the Eucharist. Jesus, through His sacrifice, establishes a new covenant between God and humanity. This covenant is sealed not with the blood of animals, as in the Old Testament, but with His own precious blood. This act of self-giving love is the ultimate expression of God's mercy and the means by which our sins are forgiven.
The Eucharist, therefore, is not just a memorial of Christ's passion but a living participation in the sacrifice of Christ. Each time we partake in the Eucharist, we are drawn into this new covenant, receiving the grace and forgiveness that flow from Jesus' sacrifice. It is a moment of profound communion with Christ and with the Church, His Body.
Mary's Role in Salvation History
St. Louis De Montfort provides a beautiful reflection on the role of Mary in God's plan of salvation:
"It was only through Mary that God the Father gave His Only-begotten to the world. Whatever sighs the patriarchs may have sent forth, whatever prayers the prophets and the saints of the Old Law may have offered up to obtain this treasure for full four thousand years, it was only Mary who merited it and found grace before God (LK. 1:30) by the force of her prayers and the eminence of her virtues. The world was unworthy, says St. Augustine. to receive the Son of God directly from the Father's hands. He gave Him to Mary in order that the world might receive Him through her."
Mary's role is unique and unparalleled. God chose her to be the vessel through which His Son would enter the world. Her "yes" to God's plan, her Fiat, made possible the incarnation of Christ. In this way, Mary becomes not only the Mother of God but also the Mother of all believers. She is the new Eve, whose obedience contrasts with the disobedience of the first Eve, and through whom the new Adam, Jesus Christ, comes into the world.
Mary's cooperation with God's plan continues even now. As the Mother of the Church, she intercedes for us, guiding us towards her Son. Her example of faith, humility, and obedience is a model for all Christians. By honoring Mary, we honor the one who brought Christ into the world and who continues to lead us closer to Him.
The Intersection of the Eucharist and Mary
The connection between the Eucharist and Mary's role in salvation is profound. Just as Mary gave her flesh and blood to Jesus, so too does Jesus give His flesh and blood to us in the Eucharist. In every Mass, we are reminded of Mary's role in the mystery of salvation. She is present in a special way, not only as the Mother of Christ but as the Mother of the Eucharist.
When we receive the Eucharist, we are invited to imitate Mary's Fiat, her total openness to God's will. We are called to receive Jesus into our lives with the same humility and love that Mary showed. In doing so, we participate more fully in the life of Christ and the grace of the new covenant.
Conclusion
As we conclude this episode, let us reflect on the immense love and grace that God has poured out upon us through the new covenant in Christ's blood. Let us also remember the special role that Mary plays in our salvation, guiding us closer to her Son through her example and intercession.
May we approach the Eucharist with renewed reverence and gratitude, recognizing it as the true source of our forgiveness and strength. And may we, like Mary, always say "yes" to God's will in our lives, trusting in His infinite mercy and love.
Thank you for joining us tonight. May the Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for you and bring you ever closer to her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Until next time, peace be with you.
