American Indian Fry Bread Recipe
Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or your choice)
Instructions:

Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add Water:

Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. The dough should be soft but not too sticky. If it's too dry, add a little more water; if it's too wet, add a bit more flour.
Knead the Dough:

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Rest the Dough:

Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Shape the Dough:

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disk about 1/4 inch thick. You can use your hands or a rolling pin for this.
Heat the Oil:

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1 inch of oil to 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a small piece of dough into it; if it sizzles and browns quickly, the oil is ready.
Fry the Bread:

Carefully place a dough disk into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on one side, then flip and fry the other side. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side. Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.
Drain and Cool:

Remove the fry bread from the oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serving Suggestions:

Savory: Serve fry bread with taco toppings (often called "Indian Tacos") like ground beef, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and salsa.
Sweet: Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey and serve as a dessert or sweet snack.
