PEACE News & Views tonight, joint hosts Siir SteveO & Kim Cooper sit down with Chris Backer from the East Coast Cannabis Substitution Program

Chris Backer was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 16 years of age, and after 20 years of unsuccessful pharmaceutical treatments he finally found the Rick Simpson video “Run From the Cure." After an exhaustive search, Chris finally found a doctor that would prescribe cannabis as medicine and started his journey with the plant.
In 2011 Chris was badly burned in a fire while making the RSO he uses daily as medicine. Once again, he turned to cannabis to treat his condition.
Chris has also been part of the Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana for the last 18 years. He ran MUMM’s court support program.
Neil Magnuson, the founder of the original CSP in Vancouver was a big influence on Chris. Thanks to Neils support, Chris has been the organizer of the East Coast Cannabis Substitution Program in Halifax since December 2019. The CSP mission is to help people battle addiction to prescription drugs, street drugs and alcohol using cannabis as a safe alternative. Neil Magnuson's CSP now has affiliate orgs across North America, including Halifax with Chris at the helm there.
Chris is a self proclaimed cannabis activist, advocate and aficionado that absolutely loves to talk pot.
