A son’s love for his mother resulted in this beautiful Orthodox Christian church, nestled within the mountains of Siberia. Two-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling, Ivan Yarygin, built this church for his devout Christian mother Eudokia. Consequently, the church was named after her patron Saint - the Venerable Eudokia Grand Duchess of Moscow. Knowing the history of this church makes it extra special to come here, and the quiet atmosphere of the mountains adds to its holiness. It is one of my favorite churches in Russia.
