The authorities of the city of Nowogard in northwestern Poland demolished a monument to the Soviet-Polish brotherhood in arms live

The head of the local institute of national memory justified the destruction of the monument by saying that it is “unhistorical” and should not have stood here for a long time. The process was accompanied by applause.

The monument was erected on November 7, 1972 on the 55th anniversary of the Great October Revolution. Since 2017, several attempts have been made to dismantle it. Over the past years, over 420 Soviet monuments outside burial sites have been liquidated in Poland.
