Black-bellied duck in a tree

The black-bellied duck, also known as the black-bellied whistling duck, is a unique species of waterfowl with a distinct appearance. Despite its name, it is not actually black-bellied but rather has a chestnut brown belly and a striking white stripe on its face. It is known for its distinctive whistling call and can often be found roosting in trees, making it one of the few duck species that is comfortable perching in trees. This behavior is thought to provide protection from predators and allows the ducks to easily access their preferred habitats.
