"I am trying to protect the Imperium." WB has unveiled another new teaser trailer for the epic sci-fi series Dune: Prophecy, a spin-off TV series streaming on Max at the end of this year. We also posted the initial first look teaser back in May. Set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe knew them as the Bene Gesserit... This is directly connected to Denis Villeneuve's two (so far) brilliant Dune movies but takes place in the distant past. Based on the book "Sisterhood of Dune" by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Frank's son). A better intro from the novel: "It is eighty-three years after the last of the thinking machines were destroyed in the Battle of Corrin, after Faykan Butler took the name of Corrino and established himself as the first Emperor of a new Imperium. Great changes are brewing that will shape and twist all of humankind." Dune: Prophecy stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Chris Mason, Jodhi May, Josh Heuston, Tabu, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina & Shalom Brune-Franklin. "True power begins with control." So far so good, this is looking legit. While it does seem obviously an HBO series with plenty of talking, I do hope there are some kick ass battles as well.

Set 10,000 years before the events of Dune, the series follows sisters Valya & Tula Harkonnen as they combat forces that threaten the future of humanity, and establish the sect known as the Bene Gesserit. Legendary Television first ordered the series in 2019, a spin-off project from Villeneuve's in-the-works Dune movies. Dune: Prophecy is a sci-fi spin-off series created by acclaimed writer / producer Diane Ademu-John, also writer on the series "Medium", "Body of Proof", "The Originals", "Empire", "Extrapolations", and "The Haunting of Bly Manor" previously. Alison Schapker is the showrunner and also a writer. With more writing by Jordan Goldberg. Adapted from the novel "Sisterhood of Dune" written by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert; based on Frank Herbert's characters. Featuring episodes directed by Anna Foerster, John Cameron, and Richard J. Lewis. Filming began by November 2022 in Budapest and Jordan and wrapped by December 2023. Executive produced by Diane Ademu-John, Alison Schapker, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, John Cameron, Cait Collins, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Dana Calvo. Warner Bros will debut Dune: Prophecy streaming on Max starting November 2024. UPDATED, 8 AM: “The more influence our sisterhood gains, the more enemies we make.” Max has released the latest trailer for its Dune prequel series Dune: Prophecy, taking us back 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides and the establishment of the Bene Gesserit. The one-minute clip gives us a hint of what’s to come, concluding with the foreboding “Sacrifices must be made.” You can watch it above and see series details and the first teaser below.

PREVIOUS, May 15: Five years after Max (then HBO Max) ordered a Dune prequel series, the streamer has shared a first-look teaser for the show, titled Dune: Prophecy. Slated for a fall premiere, the series’ first season consists of six episodes, which is on the low end for an original scripted series. Its teaser was unveiled during the Warner Bros. Discovery upfront presentation Wednesday by Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content.

From the expansive universe of Dune, created by author Frank Herbert, and set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy (fka Dune: The Sisterhood) is inspired by the novel Sisterhood Of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.

The series, which underwent several major casting, writing and directing changes as it navigated a pandemic and strikes, stars Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.

Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John, who is among those who departed early on, co-developed the series and is an executive producer. Anna Foerster executive produced and directed multiple episodes including the first. Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts executive produce with author Brian Herbert, along with Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert as executive producers for the Frank Herbert estate. Author Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer.

The series is co-produced by Max and Legendary Television. Legendary’s blockbuster Dune: Part 2 premieres on Max this month.
HBO has released the latest trailer for “Dune: Prophecy,” a new television series set 10,000 years before the events of “Dune.” The six-episode season debuts on HBO in November.

“Dune: Prophecy,” previously titled “Dune: The Sisterhood,” is based on the book “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. According to an official logline, the show “follows the Harkonnen Sisters (Watson, Williams) as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.” The trailer shows the early days of the Bene Gesserit and plenty of plotting and scheming for power in space.

Creator and executive producer Diane Ademu-John was set to serve as co-showrunner until it was announced she was stepping down in 2022. Alison Schapker then stepped up as the sole showrunner as well as executive producer. Anna Foerster, John Cameron and Richard J. Lewis serve as series directors. Jordan Goldberg, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matt King, Cait Collins, Cameron and Foerster executive produce with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert for the Frank Herbert estate. Anderson is co-producer, and the series is produced in collaboration with Max and Legendary TV.

Villeneuve’s first “Dune” movie released on Max and in theaters in 2021. Even with the simultaneous release on streaming, the film went on to gross just under $400 million worldwide. The latest installment in the series “Dune: Part Two,” released March 1, has grossed more than $700 million at the worldwide box office. It was the highest-grossing film of the year, until it was surpassed by “Inside Out 2.”
